Visit any Alberta Registry to purchase a Request for Vehicle Inspection Form, which confirms your vehicle’s status for inspection. This document is essential and must be presented at the inspection facility.
Bring your vehicle and the Request for Vehicle Inspection Form to a licensed inspection facility, such as Adair Auto Repair. Inspections are carried out by certified journeyperson technicians and generally take around two hours, depending on the vehicle type.
If your vehicle doesn’t pass the inspection, you’ll receive a Record of Inspection detailing the required repairs. These must be completed within 10 days to avoid needing a full re-inspection. Repairs can be done at a shop of your choice.
Once your vehicle passes inspection, you’ll be issued an Out of Province Vehicle Inspection Certificate. Submit this certificate to an Alberta Registry Agent within 14 days of the completed inspection to finalize your vehicle registration.
